Santander will be taken a Trade Mission to the UAE which we are offering in conjunction with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI). This Trade Mission will help you to tap into to the UAE one of the countries with the highest GDP's per capita. Official meetings at the British Embassy, 1-2-1 meetings with importers and distributors throughout the UAE, and unlimited networking opportunities means you can explore your international potential.

The Programme

Detailed below is a short outline of our Trade Mission itinerary. We encourage all participants to arrange their own meetings around the set times outlined below.

Saturday: Morning/Evening - Departure from London Airport to Abu Dhabi

Monday: All day - 1:1 Meetings, 7.00pm Networking reception (with partnering Bank)
Tuesday:  8.30am - Breakfast Networking (with partnering Business Group), All day 1:1 Meetings, Evening - Flight to Dubai
Wednesday: All day 1:1 Meetings
Thursday Day: 1:1 Meetings, 6.30pm 6.30pm - Departure Dinner & Return flight
Friday Morning: Arrive back to UK (London Airport)

Pre-Trade Mission Delegate Briefing

All successful applicants will be required to attend a pre-Trade Mission briefing – this will take place via webinar and will provide each delegate with invaluable information to the economic, political and cultural backdrop to doing business in the UAE.

Eligibility criteria

There are eligibility criteria in place for our Trade Missions and all applications will be judged on merit according to this criteria as detailed below.

  • We are looking for highly ambitious businesses who have been trading for a minimum of two years, are turning over between £500,000 and £50million, and have plans to increase customer base, employ more people and expand to new markets (including the designated market) in the next 12 months

Your business will need to have/provide:

  • A written business case (International Entry Plan) explaining why your product and brand has the propensity to establish a long-term presence in the chosen market.
  • Readiness of your business for export, including availability of export-specific skills
  • Some market knowledge and a clear rationale for addressing the chosen market

In addition, each delegate must be:

  • UK resident for tax purposes and selling or marketing a British product or service
  •  the business owner or a senior decision-maker/influencer within the business and available to attend the whole of the Trade Mission

Please be advised that

  • You do not need to be customers of Santander UK plc to qualify for a delegate place
  • There is only one delegate place per company offered with no opportunity for another member of the business to accompany you on the mission
  • Santander UK plc reserves the right to determine whether or not your business is able to utilise fully our support in the chosen market, and this will have a bearing on the eligibility of each applicationsed that

Support for the Trade Mission

Overseas Market Information Service (OMIS)
T
he UK Trade & Investment teams at the British Embassy offices in the UAE can help you in a number of ways through the Overseas Market Information Service (OMIS). The support ranges from sector reports to a pre-arranged programme of meetings with relevant business contacts.

The work is carried out by the British Embassy but it must be commissioned through your International Trade Team in the UK. As part of the support you receive on the mission, engagement with the OMIS process is compulsory and we will pay the OMIS fee on your behalf.

We strongly advise that you also use contacts you may have or are looking to establish to arrange your own meetings. Businesses that have the most success on the missions have always done a mix of meetings they have sourced as well as those arranged through the OMIS process.

Trade Mission brochure
We will produce a brochure, which will include your company description and contact details as provided in your application form. This will be circulated to other delegates and relevant contacts in the UAE to help make as many meaningful connections for your trip as possible. If you are successful in your application you will be asked to supply a high resolution head and shoulders photo that is 300dpi,4cm x 5cm, to include in the brochure.

Press coverage
We would like your connection with the Trade Mission and your association with us through media coverage

The level of publicity achieved will vary between markets and cannot be guaranteed. If you are successful in your application you will be asked to complete a press document that will assist us in promoting your participation with regional and industry trade press.

Shared intelligence
Businesses attending the Trade Mission will have different levels of experience in the market and those new to the market will benefit from the experiences of others. Attendees are invited to join other members of the Trade Mission and our sponsors' representatives each evening for dinner which provides an opportunity to discuss issues and ideas.

Costs

Flight & Group Travel
We will cover the cost of your return international flights from London, UK to the UAE, along with the group internal flight between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Any travel required to the UK destination and arrival airport will need to be picked up by each delegate as appropriate. Group travel to networking and group events while overseas will be covered by us. The cost of travel to your individual meetings will need to be covered by you.

Hotel & Meals
We will cover the cost of your overnight accommodation (B&B) at the hotel for the duration of trip. Incidentals and extras will need to be met by you. The Welcome group meal costs will be met by us, any additional subsistence will be at your own cost, including any optional activities. 

Although we are heavily subsiding the costs of the mission for those successful applicants, each delegate will be required to contribute £1,500 towards the cost of the mission. This will go towards the OMIS, hotel, flight and travel insurance costs and the costs of the networking events of which we will be subsidising the majority of the costs.

Once your place has been confirmed, you will be sent an invoice, which we kindly ask you pay at least 30 calendar days before the mission departs.

This contribution is non-refundable, should you no longer be able to participate in the Trade mission for any reason.
